InuYasha seeks out the Thunder Brothers to rescue Kagome, and before long InuYasha is battling against Hiten. Phantom Showdown: The Thunder Brothers vs. Shippo tries to steal Kagome and InuYasha's jewel shards to use for revenge. The fire is a trick belonging to Shippo, a mischievous little fox yōkai, whose father has recently been killed by two Thunder Brother demons named Hiten and Manten. Night is setting on our heroes en route, when suddenly a blazing foxfire appears. A young samurai they meet along the way leads them to a castle where a vengeful toad yōkai has possessed the reigning prince.Įnter Shippo. With Sesshomaru temporarily out of the way, InuYasha and Kagome set off in search of the shards of the Jewel of the Four Souls in an attempt to reunite its powers. Tetsusaiga is now in the hands of InuYasha, whilst Sesshomaru's fearsome dog yōkai transformation brings harm to Kagome. InuYasha must overcome an illusion of his mother and fight Sesshomaru for possession of the Tetsusaiga, their father's legendary sword. With the arrival of Myoga, InuYasha's yōkai-flea servant, Kagome learns the truth of InuYasha's mother and meets his yōkai half-brother in the flesh. Kagome is adapting to life in the Feudal Era. Yura of the Demon-Hair is set upon killing InuYasha and claiming his Shikon shard for herself. InuYasha fumes at the thought of having to collect the scattered pieces of the jewel and Kagome, upset, falls into the Bone Eater's Well and finds herself at home. With the Shikon Jewel shattered, each shard has the ability to increase a separate yōkai's powers.

Kagome, free but homesick, runs off into the forest to find the Bone Eaters Well, hoping that if the well was her entrance to the Feudal era, perhaps it can take her back to her time. InuYasha, released from the Goshinboku by Kagome, has only one desire to get his claws on the Jewel of the Four Souls and use its powers to become a yōkai. " Shikon no Tama o Nerau Monotachi" (四魂の玉を狙う者たち) There she meets InuYasha, Kaede and the centipede mononoke, Mistress Centipede. " Toki o Koeta Shōjo to Fūinsareta Shōnen" (時代 を越えた少女と封印された少年)ġ5 year-old Kagome Higurashi is dragged down the sealed well at her family shrine, only to find herself transported back to feudal Japan. The first season introduces the central characters and shows the group gathering together. Joined by a lecherous monk, a young fox demon, a demon slayer, and a demon cat, the group seeks to find the fragments of the shattered Jewel of Four Souls, a powerful jewel that had been hidden inside Kagome's body, and keep the shards from being used for evil, including the evil half-demon Naraku who slew Kikyo fifty years before Kagome's arrival.

The series follows a high school girl, Kagome Higurashi who travels back in time to the Sengoku period of Japan where she meets a half-demon named InuYasha and learns that she is the reincarnation of a powerful priestess named Kikyo. The two closing themes are "My Will" by Japanese girl group Dream and Do As Infinity's " Fukai Mori" ( 深い森 Deep Forest ?), used for the first twenty and remaining seven episodes respectively. The Japanese opening theme is "Change the World" by V6, used for the first twenty-seven episodes. Three pieces of theme music are used for the episodes one opening theme and two closing themes.
The English dub of the first season was broadcast on Cartoon Network as part of its Adult Swim programming block from Augthrough January 21, 2003.
The anime is licensed for release in North America by Viz Media. Based on the manga series of the same title by Rumiko Takahashi, the episodes were produced by Sunrise and directed by Masashi Ikeda. The first season of the anime series InuYasha aired in Japan on Animax from Octothrough May 21, 2001.
